Come and meet the Love Yoga New Zealand team.
Debi Hendra is an experienced registered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher (E-RYT200, 2009) and Hatha Yoga Teacher (2004) and has been teaching for 15 years. In 2009 she set up her first yoga studio, The Heart Center, built in her garage. This transformed into a purpose built studio in 2010, where classes grew and so did the teaching team as she has mentored and trained two RYT’s. Built from this strong foundation Love Yoga, her third studio was opened in 2015. Debi teaches both the Primary and Intermediate series, in traditional Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga, Counted Ashtanga classes and Gentle Hatha Yoga, as well as Tai Chi â€“ which allows her to offer classes that cater to different needs.
She started practising yoga in 1996, and took her first teacher training in India in early 2004, subsequently, she has trained extensively with John and Lucy Scott, Peter Sanson and returns as frequently a possible to study with Sharath, Director of the KPJAYI, and his mother Saraswati Jois, in Mysore. She lives in Taupo with her husband and two children Max and Indigo.
Sjouke Van Houten started ballet late in his teens. Since then he has danced for many, many years in various different styles, including Ballet, classical Ballet, Jazz, Latin, Modern and Tap.
Now nearing his 60â€™s he brings with him a lifetime of experience working with movement, anatomy, breath and a keen eye to observe inbalances. He also trained in Tai Kwondo, which continued the strong disciplined ethic and saw a step toward the Eastern way of perceiving the world.
He started practising with us at LoveYoga in 2016, and in March 2018 took a step further completing his Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) training in Ashtanga Yoga. Since then he has shared his understanding of the body and mind, movement and breath in both Mysore classes, Yoga for Men and also in Beginners courses to introduce new students to this beautiful practise.
Dani Gabolinscy is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) and currently teaches our Monday 5.30pm Ashtanga Counted/Led class. She took her Teacher Training with Debi Hendra in 2010, and taught for a number of years following this, both Ashtanga and Hatha.
in 2016 and again in 2018, Dani travelled to Mysore, India to study at the source with both Saraswati and Sharath. She also regularly travels to workshops to study with Peter Sanson, John Scott and Kiri Sutherland. Her gentle presence and calm energy, lend a beautiful steadiness to her classes and teaching style.
